This is an earlier rather than later work by the artist, as evidenced by the complexity and variety of the brushwork. Spring is a rare subject for the artist, and the row of houses in the background combined with the energetic impressionistic paint handling suggests a pleasing modernity. A top example by the artist and a very fine example of Hoosier Group painting. Housed in a very fine period-style 2Kk gold leaf frame.
