Following her early abstractions, Elaine began painting a series of sports themed paintings. Each work from these energetic series represents a single unified idea: the struggle for and the impermanance of a single moment. The vivid color palette accentuates the energetic brushwork, which sweeps up, down and around the figures, giving them life and momentum. In the same way Elaine imbued her portraits with the personality of the sitter, the same level of success is attained in her sports series.
