Marion Koogler McNay

(1883 - 1950)

Marion Koogler McNay was an active artist and collector. With her family’s wealth form the oil industry, McNay wa able to indulge her passion for art. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and was a teacher in Ohio in Texas. Her great legacy was her endowment of the Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas, a Mediterranean-style mansion that was her home from 1927 until her death in 1950.
