Statement Some time ago, there was quite a swell little shop called Old World Antiques on 57th Street between Park and Lexington Avenue. It was presided over by my great uncle Fred Spanierman, who left Vienna in 1902. Nearby was the old Savoy Art and Auction located at 5 East 59th Street (later it moved to 50th Street). It was founded in 1928 and was presided over by my father, Samuel Spanierman.
And now, Spanierman Gallery, LLC is located at 45 East 58th Street right between those old memories - and is presided over by myself, Ira Spanierman, and my son Gavin Spanierman.
For more than fifty years, Spanierman Gallery, LLC has been dedicated to dealing in the finest nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American painting and sculpture. The Gallery is located in a luxurious space at 45 East 58th Street. With 10,000 square feet of area, the Gallery is able to present museum-quality shows including works on loan from museums and private collections, as well as works from its own holdings. The Gallery is distinguished for its scholarship and actively supports research in American art. In addition, I am personally co-author on the forthcoming catalogue raisonnés of the American Impressionists, John Henry Twachtman, Theodore Robinson, and Willard Metcalf. The gallery is also underwriting the Winslow Homer catalogue raisonné entitled: The Spanierman Gallery, Lloyd and Edith Havens Goodrich, Whitney Museum Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Winslow Homer. These publications will be definitive reference sources on their respective artists.
In spite of some of the high-tech methods we presently use to communicate and to disseminate information, we are still (and always will be) dedicated to the old fashioned principles that foster a close relationship between our clients and ourselves. We are available to our clients for any information or help they may need. The gallery offers a full complement of art advisory services and would be quite willing to make an appointment with you to discuss how we might best serve you.
