Arcadia Fine Arts was founded in 1998 with the goal of creating a showcase for contemporary, representational artwork.
The gallery is internationally known for presenting acclaimed and distinguished painters including Malcolm T. Liepke, Jeremy Lipking, Ron Hicks, Daniel Sprick and many others. In addition to featuring established painters, the gallery takes great pride in providing a launching pad for younger, emerging artists who are poised to become tomorrow's masters.
The gallery is open seven days a week and is also a prominent exhibitor at many, international art fairs. Our website: www.arcadiacontemporary.com, is frequently updated and includes a full overview of one-person and group exhibitions as well as new arrivals to the gallery's inventory. Please feel free to call or email us if you have any questions regarding any of our artists.
Michael GrimaldiBiography of the Artist
Oil on panel
Arguably one of the most talented young realists in the country, Michael Grimaldi finds beauty in the uncontrived world that surrounds him, whether the scene is a corner of his art studio or the subway station where he catches the train everyday in Brooklyn, NY. He avoids arranging or imposing his preconceptions on a subject. “There is a certain poetry to the everyday” he says, “and that’s the direction I’m going in.” Schooled in both New York and France, Grimaldi, 32, always carries his sketchbook with him, and he works from life, only bringing a work back to the studio for final touches such as double-checking and working on perspective. He finds the process enjoyable and involving, especially when working with a portrait model over several days and getting to know the person. As a result, he believes the art has a more life-like quality and greater vitality. Whether Grimaldi has executed a still life, figurative or landscape work, there is an unerring skill radiating throughout every inch of every painting or drawing. Preferring imagery that evokes a solitary and speculative conceit, Grimaldi’s paintings and drawings transcend time, date and location.
